In direct response to a brief set by the Fes based veterinary charity The American Fondouk, the building provides: stabling; a treatment centre; educational facilities; a farrier; blacksmithing and a vast rooftop pasture for the beleaguered donkeys of the Medina.. Mules, horses and donkeys form the backbone of the Medina's goods distribution system, and the new facilities are woven around a ramp providing direct linkage between the principle vehicle entrance to the Medina and Place Lalla Yeddouna, and on into the heart of the city.
